Dwight D. Boehm, DVM drdwight@waterlooanimalhospital.com

Dr. Boehm, a Millstadt native, graduated from Belleville West high school in 1979, and went on to college at the University of Illinois in Urbana. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science in 1983, and stayed at the University of Illinois to attended veterinary school there. He earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1987, and moved back home to practice in Millstadt in a mixed animal practice. In 1988, he started working at the Waterloo Animal Clinic. In 1990, he and his wife, Lizabeth Vollmer (who is also a veterinarian), bought Waterloo Animal Clinic and renamed it Waterloo Animal Hospital. He continues to practice mixed animal medicine in Waterloo today. His areas of interest are small animal medicine and surgery. Dwight and Liz have two children: Mitch and Emma. Dwight's hobbies include: fishing, playing Kloepper (local Monroe County card game) and playing in Millstadt Community Band.

 

 

 

Lizabeth A. Vollmer, DVM drliz@waterlooanimalhospital.com

Dr. Vollmer is originally from the Columbus, Ohio area. She attended the Ohio State University after high school, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science in 1980. She went on to earn her DVM from the Ohio State University in 1984. From there, she went into private practice for one year in New York. After that, she went to the University of Illinois to do an internship in Food Animal Medicine and Surgery, where she met Dwight. After completing her internship at Illinois, she took a position as a resident in Food Animal Medicine and Surgery at the Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine. After completing her residency, she moved to Millstadt with Dwight and also worked at Mon-Clair Animal Hospital. She began working at the Waterloo Animal Clinic in 1988 and has continued on there ever since. Her main areas of interest include bovine medicine and surgery (beef and dairy), small animal medicine and surgery (especially soft tissue surgery) and small ruminant medicine. She and Dwight have two children: Mitch and Emma.
