Sprains ------- General Information Sprains are injuries to joints, tendons or ligaments. Though sprains may be very painful, bones are not broken, and the lameness is temporary. Injuries of this sort are common and more apt to occur in very young or very energetic dogs. Important Points in Treatment 1. Activity: Activity should be restricted for ____ days/weeks. As healing progresses, activity can be increased. 2. Estimated recovery time: Call the doctor if your pet is not walking normally within ____ weeks/months. Notify the Doctor if Any of the Following Occur: * Your pet's pain seems to increase. * Your pet's lameness or swelling persists. * Your pet continues to avoid using the leg beyond the normal expected recovery time.
