Infertility ----------- General Information Infertility is the inability to produce offspring. It can be a very complicated problem. Some of the things that affect reproductive ability are: general health; age; disease of the reproductive organs; endocrine (hormone) disorders; stage of the female sexual cycle (heat); emotional state (shyness, fear, excitement); and environment at breeding (unfamiliar surroundings, distractions, noises, strangers). Your veterinarian may examine vaginal smears from the female to determine the right time for mating. The male's semen can be checked for healthy sperm cells.
