Coccidiosis

                      General Information



Coccidiosis is a parasitic disease of the intestinal tract caused

by microscopic organisms called coccidia.  The disease spreads

from one animal to another by contact with infected feces.  It is

most severe in young or weak animals and often causes bloody

diarrhea.



                 Important Points in Treatment



1.  Sanitation:  Clean all bedding, housing and food pans.

    Remove all feces twice daily for ____ days.



2.  Isolation:  Keep your pet away from other animals for ____

    days/weeks.



3.  Diet:  Follow the instructions checked.

4.  To be effective, medication must be given as directed.  Call

    the doctor if you cannot give the medication.



       Notify the Doctor if Any of the Following Occur:



    * Your pet's condition seems to worsen or new signs develop.



    * Your pet refuses to eat or develops uncontrollable

    diarrhea.
