Medicating the Eye ------------------ Important Points in Treatment 1. Prevent further irritation to the eye(s) from sprays, smoke, wind, dirt or sand, injury from other pets, and self-inflicted trauma. 2. Even though a pet may not rub its eye(s) in your presence, it often does when left alone because its attention is no longer diverted from the discomfort by your presence. 3. If surgery was performed, there is usually some swelling at the surgery site. The swelling should decrease as each day passes. 4. You should limit your pet's activity as much as possible for the first week after surgery to help prevent high inner eye pressure.
